Direct percutaneous x-ray endovascular occlusion of the veins of the prostatic plexus

Abstract
In this work, we developed and introduced into clinical practice direct percutaneous X-ray endovascular occlusion of the veins of the prostatic plexus. Indications for this operation were a decrease in the quality of life associated with erectile dysfunction, the presence of proximal pathological venous drainage from the corpora cavernosa of the penis, lack of sufficient effect from taking of inhibitors phosphodiesterase type 5, refusal to use intracavernosal injections, refusal to undergo penile prosthetics, absence or low quality of visualization of the deep dorsal vein of the penis when using antegrade approaches to the prostatic plexus (transdorsal) as well as the complex anatomy of the pelvic veins when using retrograde approaches to the prostatic plexus (transfemoral and transcubital). The advantage of this technique was safety, extremely low morbidity and minimal hospitalization time.
