<trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>   Scientific studies over the last decades have shown that one of the important mechanisms for the development of pathospermia in varicocele remains oxidative stress, which in interrelationship with other factors (heat stress, metabolite reflux, hypoxia, inflammation) play an important role in negatively affecting spermatogenesis. Pathophysiologic mechanisms contributing to oxidative stress include scrotal hyperthermia, metabolite reflux, testicular hypoxia, and cadmium accumulation. Genetic factors are involved and, in addition, varicocele causes an imbalance of endocrine reproductive hormones, affecting sperm production and leading to male infertility.</p></trans-abstract><kwd-group xml:lang="ru"><kwd>варикоцеле</kwd><kwd>сперматогенез</kwd><kwd>оксидативный стресс</kwd><kwd>генетические факторы</kwd><kwd>хромосомные аберрации</kwd></kwd-group><kwd-group xml:lang="en"><kwd>varicocele</kwd><kwd>spermatogenesis</kwd><kwd>oxidative stress</kwd><kwd>genetic factors</kwd><kwd>chromosomal aberrations</kwd></kwd-group><funding-group><funding-statement xml:lang="ru">Исследование проведено без спонсорской поддержки</funding-statement><funding-statement xml:lang="en">The study was performed without external funding</funding-statement></funding-group></article-meta></front><back><ref-list><title>References</title><ref id="cit1"><label>1</label><citation-alternatives><mixed-citation xml:lang="ru">Ko E.Y.
